Replacing a pool light bulb / spa light bulb
Are you sure the bulb is bad? First check the GFI outlet controlling the light; it may just need to be reset
1. Turn off main electrical switch or circuit breaker, as well as the switch which operates the underwater pool light or spa light itself.
2. You will need the following items.
a. A new lens gasket.
b. A lamp, for proper type and wattage;
3. To remove light assembly, remove the pilot screw at top of face ring on the light, remove light assembly from niche, and place assembly on deck. (Most of the time it is not necessary to lower the pool water level)
4. Disassemble light fixture and remove bulb. Remove and discard old gasket.
5. Install new bulb and gasket during reassembly of light. At this point, submerge re-assembled light in water to confirm it is sealed. No air bubbles should come from fixture.
6. Wrap the cord around the fixture and place back in niche.
7. Replace light assembly into niche and tighten pilot screw.
8. Be sure the light fixture is completely submerged in water before operating the light for more than 10 seconds. Turn on main switch or circuit breaker, as well as the switch which operates the underwater light itself, to check for proper operation.
